About Us

Ellipse:

Our name is the reflection and incarnation of the most feminine geometric shape. The circle might be known for being the most perfect, but the Ellipse is the most elegant, sleek and sophisticated one.

Ellipse considers that the universe of each woman is immense in its silhouettes, dreams, feelings and fantasy an is in these that bases the inspiration of its designs.

Ellipse was founded in 1985 in Medellin, Colombia, a city better know at times, for another of Colombia’s unfortunate trades.  In 2007 and after a great effort by the big family that forms the management team and Ellipse’s employees, Alvaro Uribe, president of Colombia awarded the company with the Medium and Small  Exporting Enterprise in Colombia.

The person behind the ideas is Juan Guillermo Correa, who has been recognised as one of the 100 more successful businessmen in Colombia this year. Ellipse prides itself to be a company that employs talent, and that is in the continuous search of the welfare of its employees that reach the 260 figure to date.

Colombia:

Ellipse is proud to be Colombian. This gateway to South America was the transit point for the first inhabitants of North America and is home to some of the world’s most unique artisans and architects. (Yes, yes we know it’s also infamous for its white marching powder and guerrilla warfare, but it’s also got amazing beaches, fabulous people and an instinct for fashion). Here are some other surprising facts about Ellipse’s home country:

• ‘Ugly Betty’ was originally a Colombian soap opera, set in a Fashion design company.

• ‘Ugly Betty’ producer Salma Hayek is half Colombian.

• Pop sensation and owner of wondrous voice and matching hips, Shakira, is a girl from Barranquillia, Colombia. She is the highest selling Columbian music artist of all time.

• Colombia may be infamous for giving the world cocaine and coffee but did you know it is the home of 70% of the world’s roses and its lingerie is world renowned for excellent quality and sensual design.

• It’s the only South American country to have coastlines on both the Pacific and Caribbean seas and is roughly the size of Portugal, Spain and France combined.

• It is a country of extremes: it contains a dessert; a jungle with one of world’s largest rainfall records and it has a mountain region.

• Manuel Elkin Patarroyo is a Colombian who developed the vaccine for malaria, he then donated the rights to the World Health Organisation.
